Product Selection & Suitability
Which supplement is right for my horse – Metabolism Booster, Hemp Blend Plus, or Magnesium Citrate?
Which supplement is right for my horse – Metabolism Booster, Hemp Blend Plus, or Magnesium Citrate?
This depends on your horse. If you also suspect a zinc deficiency, we would recommend the Metabolism Booster, as zinc is added to it separately as a trace element. If you have a very picky, difficult horse, we would recommend the Hemp Blend Plus – it has been very well received by all horses so far. For a PSSM1 horse, the Hemp Blend Plus may also be the more advisable choice, as PSSM1 horses are generally advised not to feed too much nettle containing chromium. However, there are many positive feedbacks from PSSM1 horse owners who have fed the Booster despite its (rather low) nettle content. Always consult your veterinarian in case of doubt when feeding horses with metabolic issues. After a course of Booster or Hemp, you can then give a magnesium course: Magnesium fulfills numerous key functions, and horses with high performance demands or strong sweating in summer often have an increased need. Alternating between products makes sense for a varied diet.
Which product do you recommend for poor hoof growth?
Which product do you recommend for poor hoof growth?
The metabolism booster. The combination of amino acids from hemp, added zinc, metabolism-stimulating magnesium, and nettle is valuable for healthy hoof growth. We have received a lot of positive feedback on this.

Is the supplementary feed also suitable for young horses?
Our own Icelandic young horses receive the Metabolism Booster, the Hemp Blend Plus, the Summer Fit Blend and magnesium alternately and are developing very well. We cannot assess your young horse's individual vital nutrient requirements remotely. However, there is a lot of positive feedback on feed supplements specifically for young horses.

Application & Treatment
When is the best time for me to start a course of treatment?
When is the best time for me to start a course of treatment?
Generally, you can start at any time. For most horses, support during the coat change is particularly important. This begins at the solstice, i.e., on December 21st and June 21st of each year. Regardless of this, you can start at any time to support your horse.
Do I have to feed daily or is it enough, for example, 4 times a week?
Do I have to feed daily or is it enough, for example, 4 times a week?
The effect usually occurs faster if you feed more frequently. However, supplementing feed 4 times a week is better than none. Therefore, feed as often and regularly as you can.
How long do I feed the supplementary feed?
How long do I feed the supplementary feed?
That depends on when you start and what you want to achieve. For support during coat change, feed until the horse has completely finished shedding. During the year – for example, when moving stables, during an intensive training phase, for muscle building, or to strengthen the immune system – you can do a course of treatment until your horse is "in its center" and fit again. Exact times are difficult to specify. In most cases, an initial course of at least 2 kg is important. For horses with abnormalities, 3 kg at a time is often more advisable, followed by a maintenance feeding of another kilogram with 2-3 administrations per week. If in doubt, consult your veterinarian.
In what order should the treatments be administered?
In what order should the treatments be administered?
This varies from horse to horse and depends on their constitution and basic diet. A 2 kg initial course with the Metabolism Booster has proven effective for the spring coat change. For the summer, pure magnesium citrate is suitable, as the demand increases due to more intense training and sweating. Another course with the Metabolism Booster follows for the autumn coat change, and in winter, Winter Strength is suitable as support for the cold season.
How long does it take for the effects to kick in?
How long does it take for the effects to kick in?
This depends on many factors, especially the horse's metabolism. It can take between 3 days and about a month for the effect to become clearly visible. In addition, other factors influence the metabolism – such as weather changes, coat changes or grass composition. Nervous horses usually become calmer, while more phlegmatic horses become more awake and vital. Both in terms of weight and temperament, a positive effect towards an "inner balance" is usually observed.
Combination with other feed & moulting
Should I feed other mineral feed at the same time?
Should I feed other mineral feed at the same time?
As a rule, we do not recommend feeding additional mineral or supplementary feed or other herbs in parallel. For one, the exact mode of action can only be precisely observed with individual feeding. For another, the calcium content in many supplementary feeds is high, which can significantly hinder the absorption of zinc and magnesium.
Can I give selenium additionally during the treatment?
Can I give selenium additionally during the treatment?
Selenium is better absorbed in combination with zinc and can therefore be administered with the Metabolism Booster or the Hemp Blend Plus. However, you should always discuss selenium treatments with your veterinarian, as an overdose can quickly become toxic for horses.
When does the horse's coat change begin?
When does the horse's coat change begin?
The coat change begins – usually imperceptibly for the horse owner at first – whenever the days get shorter or longer again, i.e. on December 21st and June 21st of each year. Ideally, it should be supported from this moment on, especially in horses with metabolic abnormalities such as eczema, itching, a weak immune system, or a tendency to mud fever. The coat change stresses the organism much earlier than the hair falls out. That's why it's important to support less fit horses right from the start – when the days get longer or shorter – and not only when the coat starts to shed.
