Is supplementary feeding necessary for horses?

I am asked this question again and again and my clear answer is: YES! Because our current domestic horses no longer have the opportunity to look for exactly what they need on their daily forage hikes of 18 to 30 kilometers. Unfortunately, the biodiversity of meadows and thus the basic feed of our domesticated horses is becoming increasingly reduced. Rich herbs and vital substances are therefore usually inadequately absorbed if the horse's diet is not supplemented sensibly.

The common consequences of malnutrition are extensive.

UNFORTUNATELY, THE SO-CALLED “CIVILIZATION DISEASES” IN HORSES AND A WEAK IMMUNE SYSTEM IN GENERAL ARE BECOMING MORE AND MORE COMMON AND COULD EXAMPLE THEMSELVES AS FOLLOWS:

- Weight problems and EMS (equine metabolic syndrome)

- Cushing's and hormonal disorders

- Skin abnormalities, itching and even sweet itch

- Coat change problems

- Mauke, sarcoids, melanomas

- Thrush, poor hoof growth, poor horn quality

- Allergies

- Susceptibility to parasites such as worms, mites, lice, ticks

- Susceptibility to infections, coughs, cellulitis, etc.

- Poor performance & rideability

- Lack of motivation & vitality

- recurring tensions & blockages

- Hesitant muscle building

- Long regeneration times

- High nervousness, jumpiness, inner tension

- Phlegm or aggression

This list could be continued endlessly. As a horse health expert, the connection between a healthy, varied diet and holistic health and performance is more than clear to me from my years of practice.
